Skill is of utmost importance and is a key necessity for bagging a job anywhere in this world. Most of the unemployed workers are unable to find themselves a job simply because they lack the skill to qualify themselves fit for the job. The government of India, therefore, has the PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana – a scheme that works towards the skill development of the applicant. 

What are the key components of the PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana

  1. Short term training: the training offered at PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana training centers is short term and is designed to be so to benefit candidates who are either college/school dropouts and are in urgent need of a job. The duration of the course varies as per the skill opted for and the training focuses on aspects like soft skills, entrepreneurship, and financial and digital literacy. 
  2. Works with the prior learning of the candidate: the scheme works in tandem with the prior learning experience or skill which shall be assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) component of the scheme. 
  3. Special projects: the scheme aims to create a platform for youngsters so that the scheme facilitates training in special areas and premises of government bodies, corporates, or industry bodies. Special projects are those that require some form of deviation from the terms and conditions of short term training under the PMKVY for any stakeholder.
