Quite often, the onus of running the family falls on who’s considered to be the breadwinner for the family. And while one can assume that the breadwinner is doing good enough a job, it is only on further inspection that one knows about how bad the situation is, and how much support even the supposed breadwinner needs.

In order to help out such breadwinners in the State of Andhra Pradesh, the state government has announced the AP YSR Bheema scheme 2021 – insurance coverage for such breadwinners of Below Poverty Line families who always put the needs and wants of their families before themselves.

About the AP YSR Bheema Scheme 2021

The AP YSR Bheema scheme will roughly cover 1.41 crore “primary bread earners” of BPL families mainly belonging to the unorganised sector. The Andhra Pradesh government will handle the funding all by itself for the implementation of the entire scheme.

The Andhra Pradesh state government has earmarked an amount of ₹510 crores for the implementation of the scheme across the state and to offer insurance cover to these breadwinners across the state.

Over the months, the premium amount is expected to go higher as the number of YSR Bheema scheme beneficiaries are said to increase. The YSR Bheema scheme premium amount will be paid by the State government of Andhra Pradesh once the bank accounts of eligible citizens are made functional.

Selection process for the YSR Bheema scheme beneficiaries

When it comes to the selection process of the YSR Bheema beneficiaries, the volunteers would be surveying door to door and check for white ration cardholders. This would further be supervised by the Secretary of Welfare within the Secretariat. The beneficiaries should ideally open a bank account including the nominee.

The Beneficiaries would also have to pay a bare minimum of ₹15 per annum.

Wrapping it up

Quite often, the breadwinners of the house tend to forget themselves in the endless rat race they have to go through to simply meet the needs of their family. These heroes need to be celebrated and the Andhra government seems to have done just that with the rightly named Bheema scheme – the pillars of every household.
