From the days of yore, traditional farming practices have revered cattle for the multifarious benefits they offer. From milk to offering strength for ploughing, cattle have proved their worth, time and again.

In order to care better for cattle health, the Andhra Pradesh government is launching the Andhra Pradesh Cattle health card scheme 2021. The YSR, through the implementation of this scheme, will offer Andhra Pradesh health cards to all eligible beneficiaries. Families that have been identified in the state through the Livestock census would be able to benefit from the scheme and can apply for the Cattle health card.

To run the scheme perfectly well, the state government has allocated ₹50 crores.

The scheme would be implemented with the help of village volunteers who are available at Rythu Bharosa Kendras, present all across the state.

What the scheme covers?

The scheme offers all cattle health-related services such as deworming, breeding, Brucellosis vaccination, foot and mouth disease control, Entertoxemia disease (ETD) control, and even sheep packs would be covered under the scheme.

The vaccination and deworming program will be conducted twice each year across the state. In this scheme, the state government will also compensate for the loss of cattle under the YSR livestock losses compensation scheme.

The Andhra Pradesh government will distribute Animal health cards to livestock owners so as to maintain the record of livestock and extend services to farmers. The Animal card will be useful to get compensation from the state government. People can even check the Andhra Pradesh health card scheme application process to find out more about the benefits.

Guidelines – AP health card scheme

Once the farmer gets health cards under the Andhra Pradesh health card scheme, they would ideally have to mention the following details:

  • Breed
  • If the animal has any medical history or if it suffers from any ailments
  • If female cattle are artificially impregnated
  • If the owners of the cattle wish to buy new animals
  • If the owners wish to sell their own animals

Every time the animal is treated, the veterinary doctor would mention specific treatment given so as to ensure that the next time it is brought to the hospital and the doctor in question knows the history and the complications this specific bovine has suffered earlier.

What information will be mentioned on the AP animal health cards?

  • Details of the name of the farmer/livestock owner
  • Aadhaar card number
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Details of the cows, buffaloes, sheep and goat which are owned by the farmers.
